How do I keep the original photo dates?

Use the global Keep the original file dates setting in General, the preset-specific option, or --keep-dates in the CLI. EXIF capture time is a separate field.

Can I remove EXIF without washing out the colors?

Yes. Keep the color profile while removing EXIF in the preset. These are separate controls in 1.2.3 and later. Compare the exported file in the same color-managed viewer.

Why did GIF-to-WebP produce only one frame?

Choose an animated WebP preset and open the result in an animation-capable viewer. Ordinary JPG or PNG targets produce a still. If you use a version older than 1.2.2, update for the GIF-to-WebP frame fix.

Can EPS-to-PNG keep a transparent background?

Yes, use PNG with Filee 1.6.0 or later for the EPS/PS alpha fix. Inspect the edges on light and dark backgrounds. JPG cannot keep transparency.

Can I convert a folder without dragging each file?

Yes. Select the files together in the GUI, or use filee convert with a folder path. Add --recursive to include subfolders.

Why did dropping a folder offer an archive instead?

Dropping a folder in the GUI offers an archive operation. Open it and drag the selected files to convert them, or use filee convert with the folder path.

Where did my converted files go?

Check Settings, General for the default location, then the preset's Output, Save to override. A watch folder uses its converted subfolder by default.

Is there an easier way to update portable Filee?

If you use Scoop, run scoop update filee. For a new installation, add the extras bucket, then run scoop install filee. Settings and downloaded engines remain in their AppData locations.

Why is my Opus album cover missing?

Update to 1.5.2 or later for the Opus/Ogg and MKA artwork fix. Then inspect the exported tags in your player before adding a manual opustags repair step.

Will PDF-to-Word keep real editable tables?

PDF-to-DOCX turns table cells into paragraphs in reading order, rather than real Word tables. Rebuild the table if you need editable rows and columns, or use the original source document.

Why do spreadsheet totals stay correct but stop updating?

The built-in spreadsheet converter retains cached formula results rather than formulas. Change one input in the converted copy and test recalculation. Keep the original workbook for continued calculations.

Why do equations look different in the exported PDF?

Word-to-PDF can change equation rendering. Compare formulas, symbols and alignment with the source. Keep the original if the result differs; see issue #143 for the reported problem.

Shortcuts and difficult exports

Should I hold Ctrl, Shift or Option to open the donut?

Use the shortcut configured in Settings. Windows examples use Ctrl and Mac examples use Option; a custom gesture may use a different key such as Shift.

The Mac shortcut does nothing. What should I test first?

Try a small JPG or PNG in Filee's Home drop zone. If it converts, check the global gesture separately. If the shortcut still fails, report the configured key and macOS version with issue #135.

Why does a PDF-to-Markdown export lose layout or images?

PDF-to-Markdown does not preserve page design. Check text order and missing images; use the original PDF or page-image slides when visual layout matters.

Why does a long e-book stop near 95 percent?

Update to 1.12.0 for the longer e-book timeout. For a long PDF export, check whether calibre is installed and prioritized above the HWPX writer in Settings, Engines.
